How to Stay Consistent in 2022
Shall we?
I’ve come across two particular videos this year, which have drawn my attention to something really important. I came across the first on the second day of the year, and the second one just yesterday.
Both videos were trying to communicate a simple message, an expression of how energy levels channelled towards personalised goals for the year reduce day by day.
Our individual approach to every new year differ, nonetheless I have a sense of respect for people who can be thoughtful enough to state or list out certain goals to make their year different.
Howbeit, as humans, we find pleasure more convenient than work. And keeping to one thing can actually be inconvenient and very boring. I believe it takes more than willpower and intentionality to be consistent.
It is easy to start a business, it is tougher to keep at it. It is easy to set up a team, it is tougher to maintain it. It is pleasant to own a blog, creating consistent updates is where the real work lies.
It is beautiful to initiate a positive habit, doing it when you don’t feel like it is where the challenge is. It is less work to go to the gym for a day, it is a lot to engage it daily.
Butterflies in your belly are often found at the start of a new romantic relationship, but where the work lies is keeping commitment when the butterflies die, because butterflies don’t live long.
The point is consistency is a huge thing and it is a big deal. It is the secret to solid and lasting success. Drawing plans for the year that won’t see the light of the fifteen day of January won’t do you much good this year.
And one of the things to do before you can get consistent at a thing actually is being purposeful. Have a purpose for that thing, a purpose that is greater than the applause of men.
If your motivation is fuelled by men’s applause, it will die by the lack of it and it will even vanish completely by the criticisms and disdain of men.
It is heart-wrenching to see people who aren’t doing edifying things having this sense of purpose, and those who intentioned to do something positive are hindered by what others think or say.
People who are doing things merely for the sake of self-aggrandizement have grown to this stage, while those of us who actually intend to do positive and uplifting things for the society are held aback.
This year, apart from listing those goals. Can you think of the purpose for the goals you have set. A purpose that goes beyond men’s appraisal.
What if no one appraises you? What if no one appreciates you? What can still keep you doing it? Focus on that thing.
Whatever fuels your motivation is what would continually sustain it. When that thing goes off, motivation naturally dies. Guard your sense of purpose jealously.
Wishing you a fulfilling YEAR!
